Now that the officials have declared the country is infected with flu and the news people are touting the benefits of getting a flu shot I should add my two cents worth.
Knock on wood, the last time I recall having the flu was in 1973 and 1974. Both times the U.S. Army had to order me to show up for the immunizations. I argued a little but had to get the shot anyway. I got the flu both times. I know, I know what they (whoever they are) and what they say is you can’t get the flu from the shot. Regardless, I have my own methods now since my honorable discharge in 1975. The discharge from the flu wasn’t so honorable and I haven’t forgotten and nor have I forgotten who gave it to me.
Moving on, I like to prevent problems and like the old saying goes “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” is still in my mind. Continue reading
